More on the King Papers

Stanford has an interesting note on how the auction WILL NOT affect the work on the King Papers Project.  The director writes, "I wish to allay concerns that the auction will adversely affect the work of the King Papers Project, which is now part of the King Research and Education Institute at Stanford. ...We have photocopied and scanned these documents in order to ensure that the ideas expressed in them will be preserved and disseminated in our comprehensive edition of The Papers of Martin Luther King, Jr."   Interesting. 

King Papers find new home (but not the copyright)

The King Papers ended up at Morehouse College, King's Alma Mater, for the price tag of $32 million.  The King family has kept the copyright, and in the past has only allowed limited access.  For more see, here and here about the purchase.  Look here for more on the collection.
